As a JDA Alliance Member and Authorized Reseller, Open Sky Group is a sponsor of JDA FOCUS each year. For those of you unable to attend, it was probably one of the best FOCUS conferences yet both for us as a company and we hope for conference attendees as well. Here are just a few of the highlights:

  • During the general session, JDA Chairman and CEO, Bal Dail, spoke about his vision and strategy for JDA and its customers. For anyone who has never heard Bal speak, he’s as genuine and warm in his presentations as he is in person. He began by talking about the Big Pivot, meaning that disruption is now the new normal because of new and emerging technologies that are changing the way people interact with the world. He also stressed the four initiatives for JDA for the coming year; 1 – to deliver real customer results, 2 – be a great place to work, 3 – be a leader in their space and 4 – be profitably driven and operationally excellent. For a more in depth review of Bal’s presentation, see Logistics Viewpoints’ post by Chris Cunnane called, “JDA FOCUS: Get Seamless.”
  • Razat Gaurav, Executive VP and General Manager, Chief Revenue Officer, also presented. Razat’s topics were mainly highlights of some of the latest new products and product enhancements, including the TransVoyant product that has been embedded into the JDA Transportation Management software (which, among other things, can show impact of weather on shipments) and the FourKites product that has also been embedded into the TMS that tracks truck locations every 15 minutes and recalculates ETA using real-time location data (in addition to geo-fencing technologies to automate arrivals and departures). As part of his presentation, Razat introduced a new potential definition for SaaS that will also be a theme for JDA going forward, “Simplicity as a Service.”
  • Open Sky Group was awarded Top Reseller of the Year, North America. From the start of our partnership with JDA several years ago now, it’s been our goal to be awarded a distinction so it was an extremely proud moment; a goal we’ve worked hard to achieve. Visit JDA for a list of all partner awards.
  • Some common themes heard over and over again throughout the conference in discussions and presentations were: Evolve/Evolution, Disruption, Pivot, Seamless, Collaboration, Convergence and Customer Centricity. In a quick count, there were over 50 presentations from the Intelligent Fulfillment Suite alone which is where the JDA Warehouse Management and Warehouse Labor Management products are grouped. There were also over 65 Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings. This doesn’t include all of the other industry roundtables, other suite presentations, general sessions, etc. It was a packed 3 ½ days! If you’re interested in a broader overview of JDA FOCUS 2016, check out Supply Chain Nation’s post, “FOCUS 2016: That’s a Wrap!” Darius Rucker put on a great concert for all attendees, with a wide range of songs including a finale of Purple Rain as a tribute to the recently deceased musician, Prince.

If you missed it, JDA FOCUS returns in 2017; mark your calendars for next year’s conference April 25 – 28 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas!
